Therapy Services
Services are tailored to each client’s needs, goals, and pace. Sessions may include talk therapy, practical coping tools, EMDR therapy, or deeper reflection on how earlier experiences continue to shape confidence, relationships, and emotional well-being.
Free Consultation
15 minutes | Phone Call | Virtual
The consultation is a brief first step for those considering therapy. This call offers an opportunity to share what you are looking for, ask initial questions, and get a sense of whether Hardy Roots Psychotherapy may be a good fit. We may also discuss availability, fees, therapy goals, and which service option may best support your needs. The consultation is not a therapy session, but it can help clarify next steps.
Individual Therapy
50 Minutes | Virtual
Individual psychotherapy offers a regular space to explore emotional experiences, relationship patterns, stress, self-worth, boundaries, and personal growth.
Many people begin therapy when they notice patterns that feel familiar but difficult to change. These may include self-criticism, people-pleasing, perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, emotional overwhelm, relationship struggles, or feeling disconnected from one’s needs and values.
Sessions may involve better understanding patterns that have developed over time, including ways of coping that may have once been helpful but now feel less supportive or aligned. Therapy is collaborative and may include reflection, emotional processing, skill-building, and exploring new perspectives.
This service may be appropriate for adults navigating concerns such as anxiety, burnout, emotional overwhelm, self-criticism, relationship challenges, family-of-origin dynamics, identity concerns, or life transitions.
Extended Individual Therapy
80 Minutes | Virtual
Extended individual therapy sessions provide additional time and space for deeper therapeutic exploration or more focused work.
This format may be helpful when you are working through concerns that feel layered, emotionally complex, or difficult to fully explore within a standard session length. Some clients find extended sessions useful when they want more time to slow down, process emotions, explore relational patterns, or integrate what comes up in therapy. We can discuss whether extended sessions feel suitable for your goals.
Extended sessions may be appropriate for:
deeper emotional exploration
complex family or relationship patterns
grief, transitions, or layered stressors
preparation or processing work connected to EMDR
sessions where additional grounding or integration time may be helpful
Couples Therapy
50 Minutes | 80 Minutes | Virtual
Relational therapy offers a space for partners to better understand the patterns that shape their relationship, especially during moments of conflict, disconnection, or misunderstanding.
Many seek therapy when they feel caught in the same conversations, struggling to communicate their needs, or unsure how to repair after tension. Sessions can help slow down these patterns, identify what may be happening beneath the surface, and support more constructive ways of relating to one another.
Relational therapy may support pairs navigating:
communication difficulties
recurring conflict
emotional disconnection
trust concerns
life transitions or major decisions
family or external stressors
intimacy concerns
difficulty feeling heard, understood, or supported
The work is collaborative and may draw from emotionally-focused, attachment-informed and Gottman-informed approaches. Therapy focuses on understanding the relationship dynamic rather than placing blame, while supporting partners in building greater clarity, emotional responsiveness, and connection.
EMDR Therapy
50 Minutes | 80 Minutes | Virtual
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a structured psychotherapy approach that may support the processing of distressing, overwhelming, or unresolved experiences.
Sometimes past experiences continue to feel emotionally active in the present. This may show up as strong emotional reactions, negative beliefs about oneself, anxiety, avoidance, body-based distress, or feeling “stuck” in patterns that are difficult to shift through talk therapy alone.
EMDR may be helpful for concerns related to:
trauma or overwhelming experiences
persistent emotional triggers
distressing memories
anxiety connected to earlier experiences
negative beliefs about oneself
relational or attachment-related wounds
experiences that continue to feel unresolved
Before beginning EMDR processing, time is spent on assessment, preparation, stabilization, and consent. This helps ensure the work is approached thoughtfully and at a pace that feels safe and appropriate. EMDR may be offered as a focused part of therapy or integrated into broader therapeutic work depending on your needs, readiness, and goals.
